“The clearest way into the Universe is through a forest wilderness.”
― John Muir
“Some people talk to animals. Not many listen though. That’s the problem.”
― A.A. Milne, Winnie-the-Pooh
“Animals never worry about Heaven or Hell. Neither do I. Maybe that’s why we get along.”
― Charles Bukowski, The Last Night of the Earth Poems
“How it is that animals understand things I do not know, but it is certain that they do understand. Perhaps there is a language which is not made of words and everything in the world understands it. Perhaps there is a soul hidden in everything and it can always speak, without even making a sound, to another soul.”
― Frances Hodgson Burnett, A Little Princess
“I have from an early age abjured the use of meat, and the time will come when men such as I will look upon the murder of animals as they now look upon the murder of men.”
― Leonardo da Vinci
“I am fond of pigs. Dogs look up to us. Cats look down on us. Pigs treat us as equals.”
― Winston S. Churchill
Churchill hit the nail on the head, the ghost of DaVinci is still waiting. But I agree with FHB, and with Hardy: ‘They know earth secrets that know not I’.
Churchill’s quote says a lot. Pigs are very intelligent and wonderful beings. When they look at you, they peer into your soul. It’s a shame that the word pig is used in a derogatory way, and it’s sad that these beings who are so similar to us in many ways, are butchered
